Time Is a Valuable Currency in the Distraction Economy
In a world where distractions are in heavy supply and where marketing is in low demand, companies need to start thinking about consumers' time and attention as a form of currency. That’s according to Katharina Scholtz, Knowledge Director at Red & Yellow. She says that companies that want to cut through the clutter of today’s noisy media environment need to start thinking about communication with their customers as an exchange of value. “The exchange takes the form of the customer spending time and attention listening to a brand’s message in exchange for entertainment, information and education”, says Scholtz. This means that marketers need to start thinking about consumers’ time and attention as currencies that they can use to ‘buy’ services and content that have some value to them. As such, marketing must be positioned as a product in itself that the audience will want to engage with.

Improving Workflows in Government
The South African public sector, including national government departments and all 284 local municipalities, is under increasing pressure to reduce operational costs and streamline processes in order to become more efficient. Additionally, Government departments are faced with the challenge of limited human and monetary resources. In order to deliver better, more efficient and cost effective service to their customers - the citizens of South Africa - improved workflows are required. Process automation is one way of achieving this aim, and South Africa’s Government is fairly advanced in terms of the adoption of such solutions. However, the reliance on paper-based processes when it comes to document and contract signing represents a significant stumbling block. Advanced electronic signatures offer the ideal solution to this challenge, streamlining signature-dependent processes whilst minimising the risk of fraudulent incidents.

Born in South Africa
CNH Industrial held its first event series at the new Iveco South Africa Works facility in Rosslyn, Pretoria, Gauteng province. The establishment of this facility is a major step for the company in the market, particularly in terms of local manufacturing, employment and commercial opportunities. It is the result of a successful partnership between the company’s commercial vehicles brand, Iveco, and Larimar Group, a leading South African public transport operator and bus bodybuilder. Close to 1 000 South African employees are expected to be recruited for this new location where the Iveco and Iveco Bus brands have established production assembly lines for medium, heavy duty and extra heavy duty trucks as well as front-engined and low floor city buses. The majority of these vehicles are designed and destined for the local South African market, with a view to export 20%. The complex also includes a training centre for technicians and a product quality assurance department.
