Egypt Eyes Early Start To AfCFTA Economic Opportunities

Valdi Pereira

The Egypt Daily News recently reported that its International Cooperation Minister, Rania Al-Mashat has stated the country is aiming to deepening bilateral strategic ties with African countries through cooperation with the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA).

This comes in light of Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi‘s keenness to develop Egyptian-African ties, notably with Nile Basin countries (Ethiopia, Sudan, South Sudan, Rwanda, Tanzania, Uganda, Burundi, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Eritrea and Kenya).

Egypt is targeting the development of industrial exports to African countries, amongst others in the field of private sector medical products, in light of the support of the state to encourage local products and deepen cooperation ties between the BADEA and the private sector.
