The Art and Science of Success: An Alternative Way of Thinking which Produces Results
While most business people may have an opinion on how to survive the economic slowdown, very few take time to consider an alternative way of thinking. A way which has nothing to do with facts and figures.
For Annelize Wepener, Chief Executive of CEO Holdings and vice-president of SAWEN (South African Women Entrepreneurs’ Network), it is all about the ‘art’ of business. It may sound unfamiliar to most, but Annelize’s belief in the success of this way of thinking, has proved to be very successful in the past and led her to share her core values and belief systems about the true meaning of success with future business leaders and entrepreneurs.
What is the ‘art’ of business? It is that part, or ‘heart’ of a business which separates true leaders with vision from someone who is merely leading according to a regimented style. This way of looking at

business will most probably not generate headlines in tomorrow’s paper, but it will hugely impact on leadership style and the ability to motivate others to reach their highest potential.
It is indeed the ‘art’ of, (and the courage), to face your inner self in a quest to , not only succeed, but to acknowledge limiting mindsets and implement personal changes which will elevate one leader to shine in a crowd of similarly educated individuals. These are the issues not found in a business guru’s speech or a textbook, but need to be worked towards and in the process, find your own strengths to ultimately benefit others. In other words, what works for you, regardless of what you had been taught. Not prescribed by those in the know, but obtaining insight and knowledge by assessing your inner strengths and running with your core beliefs.
This is what has led Annelize to become part of SAWEN, – the opportunity to share her passion for the development and empowerment of women, by highlighting personal growth and practical insight which can be immediately applied in a career or in a lifestyle. The WIM (Women in Motion) programme underscores the vision of SAWEN, to encourage, uplift and mentoring young women to become entrepreneurs. To become the best they can be.
This programme allows Annelize to become involved at grassroots level with entrepreneurial programmes to transform South Africa’s economy by leading to a different drum. To empower the women of this diverse country, 51% of the population. To ultimately turn success into art.
