halls of government was not without stumbling blocks. It did not deter her from continuing fighting for the rights of women. The obstacles she says, only inspired her to fight harder.

 

However, she is the first to admit that she never understood the enormity of the challenge when she took on the task as Member of Parliament(MP). According to her, working conditions for women, let alone married women in parliament, were not ideal and divorce took its toll on many traditional marriages. But her portfolio opened up many avenues to develop local women’s businesses and become a dedicated ambassador for several programmes.

She also plays a major role in the TWIB (Technology for Women in Business), a Department of Trade and Industry (dti) initiative whose main objective is to encourage young women to choose careers in science, engineering and technology.
