However, mere geographical location does not limit the scope of the business. Accessing other parts of South Africa is what this dedicated life coach aims to achieve next. “Coaching at an international level is the kind of growth I am currently working towards. Also, I am venturing into assisting individuals to start their own businesses, big and small,” says Deborah.
“My vision is for more and more people to play an active role in their personal and social development as well as being instrumental in having a successful lifestyle. I recently opened a wellness centre where I teach people about a healthy, active lifestyle and the importance of regular exercise. I hope to grow my total-fit club, which I launched a week ago. At the moment, coaching talks are held regularly at the centre, but I want to offer more,” she enthuses.
To date, the biggest milestone for this trained neurolinguistic programming practitioner has been self-sustenance throughout the first year of starting the business. Neurolinguistic programming is a sophisticated method of helping individuals understand the connection between the neurological (neuro) processes, language (linguistic) and behavioural patterns learnt through experience, and how these elements can be modified or changed in order to assist one to achieve specific goals in life. It is also becoming more popular throughout the world. “As a business owner, sustaining one’s life from a financial perspective is always a challenge. For this, I have to approach a financial institution because I want to grow my business in the coming years,” states Deborah.
Although her business still has to develop further and survive many storms to come, giving up is not an option for the committed and focused Deborah, who obtained her master’s coaching qualification through The Cutting Edge Technology and attended many trainings by Herbalife International, one of which directed by Professor Heber, who chairs the Nutrition Advisory Board of Herbalife International.
Once her wellness centre is fully established by the end of 2013, she would like to focus more on coaching young adults on the importance of health, wellness and life skills as well as continue to pursue what started as a leap of faith into wellness!
A Leap of Faith into Wellness
In 2011, Deborah Cloete was retrenched. She quickly indentified a gap in the wellness sector and registered a company which encourages individuals to adopt a holistic approach to the health of body, mind and soul. Today, this ambitious woman intends to extend her reach to the international arena, as well as reach out to young adults who have an entrepreneurial appetite to start their own businesses.
Deborah, the Chief Executive and Owner of Total Vitality, a holistic wellness and coaching business that provides a service to individuals and corporates, started her business by consulting and providing advice for individuals from her practice at home. Setting up this business was not easy. Many hurdles along the way almost made Deborah give up her dream of being a nurturer. “Financial backing continues to be the main challenge.
