An Unstoppable Entrepreneur 

The stereotyped strong woman, or successful woman, seems to bring to mind something like an Amazon – or alternatively, someone with a razor sharp tongue. This is where Tebogo Malema, entrepreneur and businesswoman from Emalahleni in Mpumalanga, breaks the mould, being far from these descriptions. Malema describes herself as a young entrepreneur chasing her vision, with a forward-looking passion that clearly brooks no negative, does not take no for an answer and scales the obstacles in her way with alacrity. Having grown up in humble surroundings, her dream was to become a doctor, but the opportunity did not present itself to follow through on this. Yet, early on, her indomitable spirit rose to meet the circumstances she found herself in – and she was determined to better herself at every opportunity.

Destined for Greatness 

Mabel Mabaso, the Chief Executive Officer of Planet Image Productions, had to dabble in at least seven jobs before she found her true calling in the media-production industry. In under a decade since making her debut at Planet Image, Mabel has not only risen to the top at a very young age, but also professes that there is little that she cannot do with regard to media production. The first thing that one immediately notices when one is in the same room with Mabel is the positivity, confidence and motivation which she exudes. “I am a Christian who believes that I am not in a religion but in a relationship. I am absolute perfection and made in the image of the one who created me. In that respect, I am destined for greatness. I shall achieve whatever it is I set out to achieve,” she enthuses.

A Leap of Faith into Wellness 

In 2011, Deborah Cloete was retrenched. She quickly identified a gap in the wellness sector and registered a company which encourages individuals to adopt a holistic approach to the health of body, mind and soul. Today, this ambitious woman intends to extend her reach to the international arena, as well as reach out to young adults who have an entrepreneurial appetite to start their own businesses. Deborah, the Chief Executive and Owner of Total Vitality, a holistic wellness and coaching business that provides a service to individuals and corporates, started her business by consulting and providing advice for individuals from her practice at home. Setting up this business was not easy. Many hurdles along the way almost made Deborah give up her dream of being a nurturer. “Financial backing continues to be the main challenge. I had to stay strong and focused to ensure that I did not lose my vision,” she says.
